Group Work

Description of Work Done

Our objective was to understand how and why companies go about usability testing, our task as a group was to come up with our own method of usability testing that was relevant and would provide us with numerous results, which we could use to demonstrate our testing.

With these results we were required to identify any issues with our testing and/or the product in question, and also to understand how things could be improved. Also we were asked to produce a report; detailing all of our findings, and a suitable presentation in which we could demonstrate all of our findings and show our understanding of the whole process.

Reflection and Issues Identified (SWOT)

Plan of Action (SMART)

Below is the basic outline of our targets that we as a group set during discussions.

1. Choose a game

2. Select and discuss suitable questions and testing parameters

3. Discuss how the user will be tested

4. Discuss how the information will be collected

5. Create relevant documents which will be used to gather the discussed information

6. Test a min of 1 person and max of 3, for each member

7. Transfer results to a digital format

8. Discuss testing issues and other related issues

9. Create the project report

10. Create a high standard presentation

11. Discuss each members role in the presentation

Completion / Review / Conclusion

The assignment came together rather well, the only major issue we had as a team was finding suitable people for testing. This is because we were testing how effective a particular game was to pick up and play for new users to the series.

Team communication and organisation was great, each member would give valuable input and then the team would simple get to work on whatever they were assigned.

As mentioned in the SWOT analyse one of the major threats and weakness we had was that none of the team members read the assignment fully or overlooked certain aspects of it. Resulting in a last minute rush to create documents that were required, another problem was the fact that not every machine had the software we needed and so we ended up jumping from room to room.

To conclude as a group we work great however for any future assignments we have learnt to read the assignment information prior to the date of submission. Additionally we have come to expect certain things from each team member since each person is slightly better at certain aspects than the others are and so this helps our productivity rate.
